Isola Blu is an original mixed-media artwork inspired by Sicily and the Mediterranean that surrounds it.
At the center, a raised silhouette of Sicily emerges above layers of deep navy, Mediterranean blue, turquoise, white and translucent movement. The fluid acrylic background creates the impression of currents and waves surrounding the island, while a glossy resin finish adds extraordinary depth and dimension.
The circular format removes the traditional boundaries of a landscape and draws the eye directly toward Sicily—the island appearing to float within an expansive Mediterranean sea.

Sicily From Another Perspective
Isola Blu looks at Sicily not from its streets, mountains or coastlines, but from above.
The unmistakable shape of the island sits at the center of an abstract Mediterranean created through layers of fluid color.
Deep blues transition into brilliant turquoise. White currents move through the surface. Resin captures the colors beneath a glass-like finish, creating the illusion of additional depth.
Against this movement, Sicily remains the focal point.
Acrylic, Resin & Movement
The sea surrounding each island is created individually using fluid acrylic techniques.
The colors are allowed to move and interact organically before the artwork is finished with resin. Because this process can never be duplicated precisely, the patterns of currents, waves and color surrounding Sicily will be different in every piece.
The result is not simply a reproduction of a design.
Each Isola Blu has its own sea.

Designed and handcrafted at Palazzo di Pietra Studio in Sicily, Italy, Isola Blu is both an artwork of Sicily and an artwork created within Sicily.
The island, its coastline and the extraordinary colors of the Mediterranean are an endless source of inspiration for the studio.
